- Skills
- smartphone video recording
- first-person video capture
- device compatibility testing
- following project guidelines
- attention to detail
What you'll do
You record yourself doing ordinary housework (washing up, folding laundry, tidying) from a first-person point of view, with your smartphone strapped to your head. Footage like this teaches AI systems, most likely robotics and embodied models, what everyday physical tasks look like from a person's eyes.
The ad lists:
- Filming household tasks during specified physical activities
- Recording synchronised video
- A device compatibility check and an AI-run interview during onboarding
The listing's title targets college students, but the ad body sets no student requirement; the practical filters are your state, your phone and your willingness to wear a mount.
Who qualifies
- Living in one of 39 named US states and eligible to work in the US. Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Maine, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Rhode Island and Washington are not on the list
- An iPhone 12 or later, Google Pixel 6 to 9, or Samsung Galaxy S21 or later
- Comfortable wearing a phone mount on your head
- Physically able to repeat movement tasks safely
- Able to complete ID verification within 48 hours of being contacted; no contract is issued without it
What it pays
$10–15 per hour of recorded video that meets the project guidelines. That is per hour of usable footage, not per hour of your time: setup, retakes and rejected clips are unpaid.
On top of that, micro1 pays $20 as a signing bonus and reimbursement for the head strap once you complete 20 hours of work. Until then you cover the strap yourself. The ad mentions equipment being shipped to you in one place and asks you to buy it in another, so ask which applies.
Privacy note
You are filming inside your home. Keep other people, mail, screens and anything identifying out of frame, and ask how the footage is stored before you start.
Worth knowing
Good:
- No experience needed, and you are paid for chores you would do anyway
- Flexible, at-home work
- 1,100 openings
Less good:
- Low pay, counted only on accepted footage
- 11 states excluded, including California and New York
- Strap cost is only reimbursed after 20 hours
- Start date depends on equipment shipping
- Your home interior ends up in a training dataset
