AfterQuery Experts reviews: what contractors report about pay, review delays and projects

Overview · By Nikolaos Petridis

What AfterQuery Experts reviews actually say: a 2.5 Trustpilot score, fast pay once work is approved, and long waits for review and projects. We match each complaint to the rule in AfterQuery's help centre that explains it, and show what its listings pay.

The short version

AfterQuery Experts reviews split into two camps. People who got matched to a project and had work approved mostly say pay arrived on time through Stripe. People who are still waiting describe silence: no assessment result, no project, or submitted work stuck in review for weeks. Both groups are describing the same system, and AfterQuery's own help centre explains most of it. For the company basics (funding, onboarding, payout rules) see our AfterQuery company page.

What the Trustpilot numbers say

When we checked AfterQuery Experts on Trustpilot on 3 November 2026, it had a TrustScore of 2.5 out of 5 from 94 reviews. The split was uneven: 39% one star, 17% two stars, 16% three stars, 14% four stars and 14% five stars. The page also noted that the company had not replied to negative reviews.

The positive reviews are short. Reviewers in October and November 2026 mention an easy sign-up and a wide range of expert roles, and one July reviewer said money reached their bank quickly after approval.

The negative reviews come back to the same few complaints. Slow review is the most common: a July reviewer said two months passed with no feedback, and others describe work waiting in review long after submission. Some describe empty dashboards and announced projects that never appeared. A September reviewer said their account was closed with no specific reason and their submitted work was left unpaid. An October reviewer said a task advertised as short took far longer and was never approved.

All of this comes from individual workers, and people with a bad experience are more likely to post one.

Why the experience is so uneven

Most of the complaints line up with rules AfterQuery publishes.

  1. The assessment tells you nothing. The assessments page says assessments are unpaid, cannot be retaken, and that no pass or fail notice is sent. Silence usually means no matching project exists yet. Our AfterQuery assessment guide covers how to approach it.
  2. Only approved work is paid. The payment setup page says each Monday to Sunday week is reviewed and approved, then paid the following Friday by 11:59 p.m. PT. Unapproved hours can move to a later week, so slow review means slow pay.
  3. There is no minimum workload. The contract work page says contributors are independent contractors with no guaranteed volume, and higher-rated contributors get priority access.
  4. Country and name rules are strict. Stripe is the only payout method, to a bank account in your own legal name in your registered country; a mismatch triggers a hold, and the first payout is held for 7 days. AfterQuery lists 48 countries it cannot pay, including Brazil, Nigeria, Egypt and Japan, and tells people there not to start.

What the listings pay

Across the 240 AfterQuery listings on this site at the end of October 2026, 196 state an hourly rate. Starting rates run from $15 to $200 an hour, with a median of $80. The lowest rates belong to roles such as bilingual audio contributors and content writers; the highest to finance, law, engineering and research experts. Browse them under AI safety and evaluation jobs or the audio and voice filter.

Is it worth applying?

If your country is on the supported list and you have real expertise in one of the listed fields, the main cost is the unpaid assessment. Apply to the pools that fit you best, expect to hear nothing for a while, and keep applying elsewhere too, for example at Mercor and micro1.
