What you'll do
You read documents and judge them the way a good editor would: is it clear, does it hang together, is it accurate, does the tone fit. Then you fix what is wrong (grammar, syntax, structure, tone) and write feedback that explains the change. The customer's project is about text quality, so your standard becomes the standard the model is trained against.
The specific task the ad singles out is detecting machine text. You identify and annotate AI-generated content, especially the low-quality, artificial writing it calls "AI slop", and contribute short written analyses on how the training data could be improved. Deadlines are set by the project and you work with coordinators and other specialists remotely.
Who fits
- A track record of writing, editing or evaluating text
- A bachelor's degree in English, Linguistics or a related field, or experience teaching English
- Native-level English, with close attention to detail in writing and speech
- The ability to tell human writing from AI-generated writing
- Past content assessment, editorial review or quality assurance work
- Organised enough to work independently in a remote setup
These are listed as preferred qualifications, and the ad says no prior AI experience is needed.
What it pays
$22–70/hour, micro1's published figure for this listing. The ad does not say what places you inside a band that wide, nor whether pay is for time or per task, nor the weekly hours or project length.
Worth knowing
Good:
- 800 openings, ten times the sibling listing's 80
- Open to editors, English graduates and English teachers without AI experience
- Remote, with no country requirement and no time-zone preference stated
- Spotting AI-written prose is a skill worth having beyond this project
Less good:
- A $22 floor and no published basis for where you land in the band
- 800 openings suggests a high-volume project; expect repetitive review of weak text
- No hours, project length or pay structure stated
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
How it differs from the other Content Writer & Editor listing
micro1 also runs a Content Writer & Editor post with near-identical duties and qualifications. The published differences: that one pays $20–70/hour for 80 openings and states a preference for Australia and Asia Pacific working hours; this one pays $22–70/hour for 800 openings, and its ad states no time-zone preference. If you are outside Asia Pacific, this is the one without the night-shift question.
