Clickworker

Clickworker is a German crowdworking platform, now a subsidiary of LXT, where freelancers do paid microtasks: surveys, text writing, web research, and photo, video and audio recording used as AI training data, plus Microsoft UHRS tasks for those who pass its assessment. Pay is per task, not per hour.

How it works

Clickworker is one of the oldest crowdworking platforms in this market. It was founded in 2005 in Germany as humangrid GmbH, is based in Essen with an office in New York, and has been a subsidiary of the AI data company LXT since a deal announced in December 2024. Clickworker now claims a community of more than 10 million contributors; at the time of the acquisition it put the figure at over 6 million, which is also the number Slator reported.

The work is microtasks rather than projects. Clickworker lists surveys, text creation, web research, app testing, mystery shopping and photo, video and audio recording, and it sells the output to clients as AI training data in 45 languages. Clickworker also lists taking part in AI training as a task type in its own right, and it gives access to UHRS, Microsoft's internal task platform. To qualify for UHRS you need at least 80% on an assessment with an English section and a setup section, and Clickworker states you cannot retake it; your payment details must be verified first, and some languages need a separate language check.

There is no hourly rate. Clickworker states that payment is per job or microtask, that tasks can earn anything from one euro to several tens of euros, and that pay arrives at the earliest one week after a task is successfully completed.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • No degree or specialist background is needed, and the task mix means there is something for most people to try on day one
  • A choice of payout methods, several with low minimums, and a published fee for each
  • Clickworker is an established company with a long operating history, now backed by a larger AI data firm

Less good:

  • Registration is not open everywhere. Clickworker says it temporarily closes sign-up in countries where it has enough workers or little chance of work, and tells people not to register if none of its payout methods reach them
  • UHRS earnings are credited weekly as a bonus but only become payable 39 days after entry, so the first UHRS money arrives well over a month after the work
  • Reviewers on Trustpilot (2.4 out of 5 from about 3,200 reviews when we checked) describe accounts rejected straight after signup, partner and offerwall tasks going unpaid over tracking problems, and slow support
  • Trustpilot reviewers mentioning UHRS report thin task supply outside it, with one in July 2024 saying that without UHRS there were only surveys and two or three other tasks, and another describing half an hour of instructions for a task paying $0.02

About this page

Facts above come from Clickworker's about page, its LXT acquisition press release, its crowdsourcing glossary entry on remuneration and its workplace support articles on country availability, UHRS qualification, UHRS payment, payout options and fees, last checked 29 September 2026. Clickworker's two support articles disagree on the Payoneer minimum for euro accounts; check the fee page before choosing it. Clickworker publishes no per-hour figure and no country list, so those fields are left empty. Worker reports come from Trustpilot and are attributed where they appear; we could not read Reddit and have not relied on it.
