How it works
Alignerr is a Labelbox-led network, and it describes itself as a highly curated network connecting subject matter experts with specific projects from the world's leading AI labs. The work is creating nuanced training data, evaluating AI model responses, and aligning model behaviour with human preferences. You are matched to projects rather than hired into a role, and Alignerr states that its community spans more than 50 disciplines (STEM, coding, language, law, medicine, finance), and that the more specialised and in-demand your skills are, the more you can earn.
Alignerr publishes its onboarding as five steps. You sign up with a Google account and upload a resume, which auto-fills your profile, and you set the skill and domain preferences that drive what you are matched to. You apply for a specific job from the open roles board, each of which states its own requirements. You verify your identity, first by text to a phone number and then with a photo ID check through Persona. You sign the contract in the Alignerr app and set up billing. Then comes Alignerr onboarding itself: an email invitation, an introduction to the Labelbox platform, and access to the Alignerr Discord, which is where project notifications and announcements live.
Some projects add a step: Alignerr states that certain jobs require a Zara AI interview or a domain-specific assessment, and that you are told if yours does. There is also an opt-in called Alignerr Connect, which Alignerr says opens up additional opportunities working directly with AI labs.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Every listing shows its rate before you apply, which most platforms in this market do not do
- Genuinely global: Alignerr states you can work from almost anywhere in the world
- Both ends of the market are open: transcription listings state no experience is needed, alongside specialist tracks aimed at credentialed professionals
- With more than 50 disciplines covered, a niche professional background can work in your favour
- Alignerr's payment FAQs set out the pay cycle in writing, which is more than most platforms in this market publish
Less good:
- Onboarding is long before any money changes hands: Google signup, resume, phone verification, a photo ID check through Persona, a contract, billing setup, and on some projects an AI interview
- Being accepted is not the same as being assigned. Alignerr's own FAQ carries entries on how long assignment typically takes and on what determines who gets picked, which tells you that waiting is a common experience
- Workers posting on Glassdoor and Reddit report accounts deactivated with completed work still unpaid, and support going unanswered; one Glassdoor reviewer describes being removed from the platform while chasing an outstanding balance. Alignerr's own materials do not say what happens to unpaid completed work after a deactivation
- Contributors also report unpaid evaluation phases: several hours of genuine ranking or scoring work with no payment when they are not advanced to the project. Alignerr does not state whether evaluation time is paid
- Project work is intermittent by design, with no guaranteed volume between assignments
- Only one payment provider is enabled per country, so which of the two you get is decided by where you live rather than by you
About this page
Facts above come from Alignerr's own site (its homepage, About page, Process page, FAQ index and public jobs board) and from the Alignerr payment FAQs published in Labelbox's help centre, last checked 6 September 2026. The pay cycle shown on this page is the one Alignerr itself publishes.
Alignerr states no platform-wide pay range, so the typical-pay fields on this page are empty rather than assembled from figures that describe different work. Rates are set per project, and every Alignerr listing publishes its own before you apply, which is unusual in this market, and more useful than any spread we could construct. Alignerr does advertise an average hourly figure on its homepage; treat it as a blend across work that has little in common, not as a rate you can expect.
Alignerr publishes no country restriction, so this page leaves country eligibility open rather than guessing at one.
Worker reports are drawn from Glassdoor and Reddit and are attributed in the sentence that makes the claim rather than folded into the facts on this page. We are not affiliated with Alignerr and we do not process applications.
