  • data visualization

What you'll do

Of the four listings on this presentation project, this is the one where you do real analysis before touching a slide. You interpret datasets with statistical reasoning, draw conclusions a business audience can act on, and write analytics reports that summarise findings, trends and recommendations. Then you turn that into PowerPoint: redesigning data-driven decks for clarity and visual consistency and building visualisations that make the insight obvious.

You also critique existing slides and reports against good data-visualisation practice (the misleading axis, the chart that needed to be a table, the insight buried in a legend) and iterate on deliverables through feedback cycles.

Who fits

  • A background in data science, analytics, statistics or a related field
  • The ability to distil complex datasets into business-oriented insight
  • Expert PowerPoint, with a portfolio showing slide reconstruction and advanced design
  • Experience writing analytics reports and data stories for varied stakeholders
  • Rigour in both quantitative and qualitative work
  • Clear, concise writing

All are listed as preferred, and no AI experience is needed. Prior consulting experience is named as a plus, which hints that the target is the analyst who presents findings to executives, not the one who ships models.

What it pays

$150–350/hour, micro1's published band, which is high for analytics work of this kind. The ad does not say what places you in the band or whether pay is hourly or per deliverable.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Uses the full analyst loop (analysis, report, deck), not just formatting
  • Consulting experience helps but is not required, unlike the Consulting sibling
  • Asynchronous, no AI experience needed
  • "High demand" badge

Less good:

  • A PowerPoint portfolio is expected, which many data scientists do not keep
  • 7 openings
  • US, UK or Canada only
  • Wide band with no published placement criteria
  • No hours, duration or start date published
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
