What you'll do
You play current AAA games and capture the sessions with micro1's in-house tools, following capture instructions closely. Afterwards you organise and annotate what you recorded, store and transfer the files according to the project's rules, and keep the customer's remote team updated.
It sounds like getting paid to play, and partly it is, but the ad frames it as data work: systematic capture, accurate annotation, troubleshooting when recording breaks, and meeting deadlines as requirements shift. Gameplay recorded this way is typically used to teach models how players act and how games respond, so consistency matters more than skill at winning.
Who fits
- Real experience with AAA games, and access to the specific titles the project needs
- Strong gameplay and the discipline to follow capture instructions exactly
- Clear, prompt written and spoken communication
- Experience with gameplay recording or capture tools is a plus
- Self-motivated and reliable when working alone
- Comfortable troubleshooting technical problems
Mandatory: you must own a high-end gaming PC that runs the latest AAA games smoothly at high resolution and can record at the same time.
Preferred: gameplay QA, playtesting or data capture experience; video editing or annotation tools; distributed team experience.
What it pays
$10–15/hour as published, but the job type is "Contract (Pay Per Task Model)", so the hourly figure is an equivalent rather than a guaranteed rate. The per-task fee, the length of a task and acceptance criteria are not published.
The bigger cost sits with you: the hardware requirement means a PC that costs well into four figures, plus the games themselves, and wear on both. At $10–15 that investment only makes sense if you already own the kit.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Draws directly on gaming experience; no AI background needed
- 50 openings, flagged as high demand
- Playtesting and QA experience counts in your favour
- Remote
Less good:
- You supply the high-end PC and the game titles
- Per-task pay with no published fee
- Low rate for work with a significant hardware requirement
- The ad mentions onboarding five experts "early next week", which suggests intake happens in small cohorts; the posting is two months old, so ask whether that timing still applies
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
