What you'll do

You listen to Hebrew audio clips, from human speakers or from a speech model, and rate how native and fluent they sound. The criteria are pronunciation, intonation and linguistic authenticity, applied according to the project's guidelines, and every rating carries a written English justification detailed enough that another reviewer would land in the same place.

Hebrew poses a specific problem for speech models, and a native ear is well placed to hear it: written Hebrew usually omits vowels, so a model reading text has to guess which word is meant, and a wrong guess produces a real word with the wrong meaning or the wrong stress. Add the gap between formal and everyday Israeli pronunciation (the guttural consonants many speakers no longer distinguish, for example) and there is plenty for a trained listener to catch. The ad does not say whether the project targets Israeli everyday speech or a more formal register.

Beyond ratings, you raise ambiguities with project coordinators and contribute observations that feed into model improvements.

Who fits

  • Native-level Hebrew, spoken and written
  • English at B2 or above, since all feedback is written in English
  • The ability to describe small pronunciation and intonation differences precisely
  • Strong attention to detail and clear writing

Preferred: a background in voice work, linguistics, phonetics, or music and audio engineering; audio analysis, transcription or linguistic assessment experience; media, communications or teaching. No AI experience or minimum years are required.

What it pays

$30–65/hour, micro1's published band, identical to its Bengali, Dutch and Italian bilingual listings. The ad gives no basis for placement within that range, so plan around the floor until an offer says otherwise. No hours or project length are published.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Hebrew-language AI work is comparatively rare, and this listing has 100 openings
  • No degree or AI background required
  • Clear, bounded tasks
  • Remote, with no country restriction on the listing

Less good:

  • More than a 2x spread with no stated basis for placement
  • Repetitive listening work where consistency matters most
  • Target register not specified
  • No hours, duration or start date published
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
