What you'll do

You listen to clips of AI-generated Indonesian speech and decide whether they pass as native. The review covers pronunciation, intonation and authenticity, plus something the other bilingual listings in this family do not stress as much: whether the language is culturally and contextually appropriate for the situation it is used in.

That extra criterion fits Indonesian well. The formal Bahasa Indonesia of news and documents differs markedly from the colloquial Jakarta speech most people use day to day, and regional backgrounds (Javanese, Sundanese, Batak, and many others) shape accent and word choice. A model can produce grammatically correct Indonesian that sounds stiff, or casual Indonesian in a setting that calls for formality. Spotting those mismatches, and documenting them clearly enough to act on, is the job.

You also discuss findings with project coordinators, give feedback both in writing and verbally, and suggest refinements to the evaluation framework itself.

Who fits

  • Native-level Indonesian with a deep understanding of regional dialects and cultural nuance
  • Strong written and spoken Indonesian and English, with English at B2 or above
  • A methodical, analytical approach to language evaluation and close attention to detail
  • The ability to give clear, constructive feedback on language and style
  • Comfort working independently and to schedule

Translation, localisation, linguistics, content moderation or language QA experience is preferred but not required. No AI experience is needed.

What it pays

$60–65/hour, micro1's published band. micro1's other bilingual audio listings (Bengali, Dutch, Hebrew, Italian) run $30–65 with the same ceiling, but this one's floor is double theirs. The ad does not explain why, and does not state hours or a project length. For an Indonesian-based contractor, it is an unusually strong rate on a US-dollar board.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A $60 floor, the highest in this family of micro1 language roles
  • A narrow band, so the offer should match the listing closely
  • 100 openings, flagged as high demand
  • No degree or AI background required
  • Remote, with no country restriction on the listing

Less good:

  • The cultural-appropriateness criterion makes judgements more subjective than pure pronunciation
  • Verbal feedback sessions may be scheduled in US or European hours; the ad does not say
  • No hours, duration or start date published
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
