How it works
Uber AI Solutions is Uber's business selling AI training data, annotation and evaluation to other companies, and it staffs that work with a gig workforce of its own. Uber AI Solutions jobs come in two forms. The main one is a web platform at earn-uberaisolutions.uber.com, open to anyone of legal age in a supported area: Uber states there are no minimum education or experience requirements. The second is a set of short "digital tasks" inside the Uber driver app, which Uber piloted with drivers in 12 Indian cities in 2025 (as Computerworld reported) and announced for US drivers and couriers in October 2025, with uploading photos to train AI models as its first example (as CNBC reported).
On the web platform, Uber lists five kinds of work: evaluating AI responses, translating and reviewing content, testing products and features, collecting data samples such as images, voice recordings and text, and labelling and annotating data. Its onboarding guide walks through the steps: create an account, verify your identity with a government-issued ID valid for at least 30 days, then complete your profile in the Task Hub with your specialisations (coding, STEM fields, up to five languages) plus any diplomas, transcripts and work history. Uber says verification typically takes up to four days, and some roles add a short eligibility quiz. Before any task is assigned you add bank details and a tax profile; in the US that means a W-9, without which Uber warns tax may be withheld. Our guide to how you actually get paid covers what that tax paperwork means.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Uber states that each opportunity shows estimated pay and requirements up front, so you decide before starting
- There are no fees or subscriptions, and no minimum education or experience, per Uber's own page, which makes it one of the more open entry points for people without experience
- Work is fully flexible: Uber says that where the platform is live you can take opportunities from anywhere in that region, whenever you want
- Language work is part of the offer, so bilingual applicants have more to go on than on a pure labelling platform. See the language roles on this site
Less good:
- Availability is patchy even inside the US. Uber's onboarding guide says the platform is live in every US state except California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington State and Washington, DC; applicants there, and in countries Uber has not launched in, get a waitlist instead
- Uber recommends a reasonably capable computer (8 GB of RAM at minimum, 16 GB preferred, plus a 15–20 Mbps connection)
- Uber publishes no platform-wide rate; pay is set per opportunity, and independent write-ups describe figures ranging from cents per microtask to much higher rates for specialist evaluation, so earnings are hard to predict in advance
- Independent contractor reporting is thin. We found no substantial Reddit or Trustpilot discussion of the web platform, and the only review on AlignList (February 2026) flagged how little Uber says publicly about contractor pay
About this page
Facts above come from Uber's own pages: the Uber AI Solutions earner page (uber.com/us/en/earn/ai-solutions), its onboarding tips page and the Uber AI Solutions business site, checked 29 September 2026, plus press coverage from CNBC and Computerworld for the driver-app pilots. Uber's US pages describe the US programme; terms elsewhere may differ, so the country field is left open.
