Video, image and design AI training jobs: tasks, pay and who qualifies
Overview · 1 week ago
Video, image and design AI training jobs range from filming your own chores to judging generated video frame by frame and critiquing design work. From 38 listings on this site: the five kinds of task, what each pays ($6 to $350 an hour) and who qualifies.
What video, image and design AI work involves
Video and image models need footage to learn from, people to label it, and trained eyes to judge whether what they generate is any good. Video, image and design AI training jobs cover all three. On 29 September 2026 this site listed 38 of them under Video, Image & Design, out of 699 listings in total, ranging from filming your own housework to reviewing brand strategy.
Recording footage (8 listings). micro1 pays people to film everyday tasks from their own point of view, with a phone on a head strap or a 360 camera. Its at-home video recorder listing pays $10–15 per hour of accepted footage, so setup time and rejected clips are unpaid.
Annotating video (4). Labelling actions, objects and events in footage, often of robots. The Video Data Annotator listing pays $7 an hour.
Editing and post-production. micro1's editor family (Premiere Pro, Avid, Final Cut, DaVinci Resolve, motion graphics, 3D) annotates and judges footage inside the tools professionals use, mostly at $15–80.
Judging generated images and video. Mercor's Visual Quality Expert evaluates model-enhanced video frame by frame for compression artefacts, banding, aliasing and over-sharpening, at $60–90, and wants five years in a seat such as VFX supervisor, colourist or DP.
Design judgement. UX, product, brand and graphic design roles ask you to critique or choose between design outputs and explain why. Mercor's Professional Design Experts listing pays $80–180 for taste and product design decisions.
Mercor also runs "application user" listings for Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve and Blender at $30–40, which require the software installed on your own computer.
What it pays
All 38 quote an hourly rate, from $6 to $350, with a median midpoint of $47.50. That figure hides two separate markets. Footage collection and basic annotation pay $6–20 and ask for little beyond a phone and reliability. Professional design and film roles pay $50 and up, and the top listings (micro1's brand and creative strategy role at $150–350, Mercor's senior design research study at $150–250) want long professional track records.
Several micro1 editing listings advertise $15–80, one of the widest bands on the site, and do not say what places you within it. Plan around the floor.
Who qualifies
For recording, the filters are practical: a compatible device, identity checks and location. Several at-home listings are US-only and one covers Latin America. For editing, hands-on experience with the named software is the requirement, and data annotation experience helps. For design and film evaluation, professional experience in the relevant seat matters most; Mercor's design listing is limited to the US, UK and Canada and asks for at least 15 hours a week.
micro1 posts 29 of these roles and Mercor 9. 29 of the 38 are open worldwide.
Where to start
