What you'll do
This is annotation and evaluation work for people who know games from the inside. You review gaming-related data samples (text, game content and AI model outputs), label them, and judge whether they are accurate, good and relevant. The ad also lists writing prompts to probe how well a model understands a game, which makes it a little more creative than pure labelling.
The ad casts the net wide: video games, arcade, esports, game design or "any related domain". What it asks for is real knowledge, not casual familiarity. Think of the person who spots that a model has the wrong mechanic, the wrong era or the wrong meta.
Who fits
- Significant hands-on experience with video games, arcade gaming, esports or a related domain (required)
- Attention to detail and the ability to follow structured task instructions (required)
- Experience in game design, game QA, esports competition or content creation is preferred
- Familiarity with several genres, platforms or eras (console, PC, arcade, mobile) is preferred
- A professional or semi-professional background in the games industry is preferred
The application form asks for your relevant experience (required) and supporting evidence of your gaming background (optional). A good supporting item is anything that shows depth: competitive results, design or QA credits, or published content.
What it pays
The ad itself says experts are paid per approved task, with speed bonuses on top, and publishes no hourly range, so $20/hr is the board's figure rather than a guaranteed wage. The ad does not publish its payment schedule or a minimum weekly commitment; see the company page for how AfterQuery pays.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Uses a hobby-level depth of knowledge that most data work ignores
- Remote and on your own schedule
- Speed bonuses on top of the per-task rate
- No degree requirement is stated
Less good:
- Per-task pay means the hourly figure depends on how fast you work and how many tasks are approved
- $20/hr is far below AfterQuery's professional-domain listings
- The ad does not describe the hiring process, hours or how much work is available
About this listing
Read from the AfterQuery Experts board on 18 October 2026. The role, responsibilities and qualifications are AfterQuery's own; the board headlines $20/hr and the ad states per-task pay with speed bonuses. If AfterQuery's help centre applies here, expect an unpaid one-attempt assessment and ID verification before work starts. See AfterQuery.
