  • simulation modeling

What you'll do

AfterQuery wants industrial engineers to write hard questions and case studies for AI models and then judge how well the models answer. The ad lists the territory: process optimization, production planning, facility layout, quality control systems, supply chain design, work measurement, ergonomics and simulation modeling.

Two jobs sit side by side. You author scenarios that are difficult but still educational, and you evaluate model responses with detailed written feedback, checking them against industrial engineering standards and good practice. You also work with other engineering and technical experts on the team to tune how difficult each question is.

Who fits

  • A bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited program (required)
  • Proven experience in industrial engineering practice, process improvement or operations management
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail

Preferred, not required: several years across manufacturing, logistics or service operations; involvement in engineering publications or standards work; a PE license, Lean Six Sigma certification or an advanced degree; and familiarity with AI-driven industrial engineering applications.

What it pays

The board shows $95/hour, and the ad gives no range. The ad calls the role remote, flexible and asynchronous. It does not publish payment terms, a minimum weekly commitment or a contract length, so check the AfterQuery company page and the application flow before you plan around it.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A single stated rate of $95/hour for engineering judgment rather than data labelling
  • Remote and asynchronous, on your own schedule
  • The topic list is broad, so people from manufacturing, logistics or service operations all have a way in

Less good:

  • No hours guarantee, duration or payment schedule is stated in the ad
  • A bachelor's degree is a hard requirement
  • The ad does not describe its hiring steps; AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and identity verification
