What you'll do
You turn help-desk experience into test material. AfterQuery has you author realistic IT support scenarios from first contact through diagnosis and resolution, write reference answers that show the diagnostic reasoning behind each step, and grade model output for technical accuracy and user safety.
The sharpest duty is flagging advice that reads as plausible but would make the problem worse. Anyone who has watched a user follow a confident wrong fix will know the kind of answer to look for.
Who fits
- At least 2 years in IT support, help desk or system administration
- Hands-on enterprise experience, such as Active Directory, Microsoft 365 or MDM tools
- Troubleshooting depth across hardware, software and networking
- Clear written English for documenting reasoning
- Able to commit at least 10 hours a week
- Preferred: CompTIA A+ or Network+ or Microsoft credentials, PowerShell or Bash scripting, tier 2 or tier 3 escalation experience
What it pays
The board headlines $63/hr, while the ad's contract terms give $45 to $80/hr. The ad says your rate is set from your experience and not negotiated down after you start. Pay is weekly through Stripe.
How hiring works
A five-minute application (resume plus structured questions), resume review against a published rubric, a possible written assessment, onboarding (contractor agreement, Stripe, platform access), then a project match usually within a week.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Support experience is valued at a rate well above typical help-desk wages
- Remote and async with no fixed hours; no maximum weekly hours
- The ad states no screen recording, keystroke monitoring or idle timers
- Ongoing project work, not single task batches
Less good:
- 10 hours a week minimum is a firm commitment
- Lower band than AfterQuery's engineering roles
- Placement depends on a project match in your specialty
