What you'll do
You write manufacturing questions and case studies that are hard enough to trip up an AI model, then check the model's answers against sound practice. The ad lists production planning, quality control, lean manufacturing, process optimization, supply chain management, equipment maintenance and safety protocols as example topics.
Two parts of the job: authoring the scenarios, and evaluating responses with detailed written feedback on accuracy and adherence to industry standards. You also work with a team of manufacturing and technical experts to tune question difficulty so the content is challenging without being unfair.
Who fits
- A bachelor's degree in manufacturing, industrial or mechanical engineering, operations management or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
- Proven experience in manufacturing operations, production management or industrial engineering, with a solid grasp of different processes and systems
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication skills and an eye for detail
Preferred: multiple years across varied production environments, process improvement or publication work, a Lean Six Sigma certification or PE license, and familiarity with Industry 4.0 or IIoT.
What it pays
The board shows $70/hour. The ad states no range, so that is the single figure used here. It does not publish its payment terms (cadence, minimum weekly hours); the AfterQuery page covers how payouts generally work.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Remote and asynchronous, on your own schedule
- Uses plant-floor and operations judgment rather than coding skills
- A Lean Six Sigma or PE credential is listed as a plus, so formal credentials count
Less good:
- The ad does not state weekly hours, project length or how steady the work is
- It does not describe the hiring steps; AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and ID verification
- Contractor status, so no benefits and your own taxes
