What you'll do
The maths track is about teaching mathematics, not only doing it. You write instruction scenarios that include common misconceptions, and produce worked solutions with the reasoning behind each step. The step-by-step reasoning is the product, since an answer on its own tells an evaluation very little.
Grading means scoring model output for mathematical accuracy and pedagogy, and flagging solutions that get the answer right but teach it wrong, such as a trick that gives the correct result while hiding the idea a student needs to carry forward.
Who fits
- A teaching license or certification with a mathematics endorsement
- At least 2 years teaching mathematics in a classroom
- Depth from foundational numeracy through advanced coursework
- Clear written English for explaining mathematical reasoning
Preferred: experience teaching advanced courses such as AP or IB, competition math coaching or math team advising, and curriculum writing or assessment design. The form asks what level you teach (required) and offers an optional teaching license or certification field.
What it pays
The board headlines $63/hr; the ad's contract terms state $45 to $80/hr, recorded here as the range. The ad says rates are set from experience, not negotiated down after you start, and paid weekly via Stripe.
It also states remote, fully async work with no fixed hours, a minimum of 10 hours per week with no maximum, and no screen recording, keystroke monitoring or idle timers, as ongoing project work.
How hiring works
The ad lists a short application (resume plus structured questions), a resume review against a published rubric, a possible written assessment for further placement, onboarding with the contractor agreement and Stripe, and a project match usually within a week of onboarding.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A higher floor ($45) than the general, English, elementary and ESL tracks
- Weekly Stripe pay and no monitoring software, stated in the ad
- Range covers foundational numeracy through advanced courses
Less good:
- A mathematics endorsement is listed as required
- The 10 hour weekly minimum is substantial next to a teaching job
- The ad does not explain how your experience sets your place in the $45 to $80 range
