  • crisis communications
  • media planning
  • content strategy

What you'll do

You build communications problems that test whether an AI can handle real messaging work, then judge its answers. The ad lists message development, audience targeting, media planning, crisis management, content creation, brand positioning and stakeholder engagement. A good case here is one where the obvious reply is wrong for the audience or the moment.

You validate model responses with detailed feedback on accuracy and adherence to communications standards, and you work alongside other communications and technical experts to set question difficulty.

Who fits

  • A bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, media studies or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Proven experience in media production, communications strategy, PR or journalism, with knowledge of multiple platforms and channels
  • Strong analytical, written and verbal communication

Preferred: several years across broadcast, digital, print and social formats, campaign or publication work, thought leadership, and experience in crisis communications, brand management, content strategy or media relations. Familiarity with AI-driven media tools is a plus.

What it pays

$55/hr, the board figure. The ad text gives no range.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Journalism, PR and media backgrounds all qualify, so it suits career changers inside communications
  • Remote and asynchronous
  • Slightly above AfterQuery's marketing listing, which pays $45/hr

Less good:

  • Crisis and PR judgment is subjective; expect to defend your reasoning in rubrics and feedback
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
  • Hours, project length and payment terms are not published on the listing; the company page describes how AfterQuery pays in general

AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and ID verification for expert pools; this listing does not describe its own hiring steps.
