What you'll do

You build coding scenarios that run from chart documentation through to the final code set, write reference answers that cite the guideline behind every code choice, and grade model output for coding accuracy and compliance risk. The signature task is spotting code sets that look clean but would fail an audit, which is exactly the kind of error a fluent model makes and a casual reviewer misses.

Who fits

• CPC (AAPC) or CCS (AHIMA) certification in good standing
• 2+ years of production coding experience
• Depth in ICD-10-CM, CPT and HCPCS with real chart experience
• Clear written English to explain code selection and guideline logic
• Able to commit at least 10 hours a week

Preferred: inpatient coding, risk adjustment or E/M auditing; extra credentials such as CIC, CRC or CPMA; experience training or auditing other coders. The form optionally asks for your AAPC or CPC credential.

What it pays

The board headlines $80/hr; the ad's contract section gives $65 to $95/hr, set from experience and paid weekly via Stripe. The ad says it is not negotiated down after you start.

Worth knowing

Good:

• Remote and fully async with no production quotas, per the ad
• Ongoing project work rather than single task batches
• No screen recording, keystroke monitoring or idle timers

Less good:

• Minimum 10 hours a week
• A coding credential in good standing is required
• Placement may involve a written assessment
• Independent contractor: no benefits, your own taxes

How hiring works

Apply with a resume and a few structured questions (about five minutes). Applications are read against a published rubric and get a decision. You may be asked to take a written assessment, then sign the contractor agreement, connect Stripe and get platform access. Matching to live work usually follows within a week, according to the ad.
