What you'll do
You write behavioral science problems and the methodological answer keys behind them, then grade model output.
- Author realistic scenarios from study design through interpretation
- Write reference answers that weigh constructs, confounds and effect sizes
- Grade model output for construct validity, inference quality and replication awareness
- Flag claims that sound plausible but overstate what the evidence supports
AfterQuery calls this its social science listing and says every psychology specialty is welcome, so cognitive, social, clinical and industrial-organizational researchers are all in scope.
Who fits
- An advanced degree in psychology or a closely related behavioral science
- At least 2 years of research with human subjects or behavioral data; the ad names academics, UX researchers and applied behavioral scientists
- Working command of study design, measurement and statistical inference
- Clear written English for documenting reasoning
- Able to commit at least 10 hours a week
Preferred: a PhD with peer-reviewed publications, depth in a cognitive, social, clinical or industrial-organizational specialty, and UX research or applied behavioral science experience. The ad wants people who know what the replication crisis taught the field.
What it pays
The board headlines $90/hr. The ad's contract section gives $60 to $120/hr, set from your experience and not negotiated down after you start, paid weekly via Stripe. The work is fully remote and async with no fixed hours, a 10-hour weekly minimum and no maximum. The ad promises no screen recording, keystroke monitoring or idle timers, and describes ongoing project work rather than single task batches. You are an independent contractor.
How hiring works
Apply in about five minutes with a resume and a few structured questions. Every application is read against a published rubric and gets a decision, you may be asked to take a written assessment, and then comes onboarding (contractor agreement, Stripe, platform access). Matching to live work in your specialty usually follows within a week.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Graded on methodological judgment rather than volume
- Scale hours up or down week to week
- Broad eligibility across psychology subfields and applied roles
- Weekly pay and no monitoring software
Less good:
- The 10-hour minimum rules out very casual involvement
- A wide band ($60 to $120) means your experience determines a large spread
- Any written assessment is unpaid and one-attempt according to AfterQuery's help centre
- Placement into live work is "usually" within a week, not promised
