What you'll do
You judge and produce quant finance work for AI training. The ad has you evaluate AI-generated analysis for mathematical rigour across derivatives pricing, time-series analysis, portfolio construction and risk modelling, create expert demonstrations of pricing, portfolio and risk workflows, and rank and label model responses against quantitative best practice.
Two kinds of work are mixed here: reviewing what a model produced, and writing your own worked examples drawn from your practice.
Who fits
- An advanced degree in mathematics, statistics, physics, computer science or quantitative finance, or equivalent experience
- At least 2 years in quantitative research, trading or risk modelling
- Fluency in Python, R or C++ for quantitative work
- Preferred: buy-side or sell-side experience (hedge fund, prop trading, bank), a CFA charter or FRM certification, and published research or open-source quantitative work
The application form asks for a CFA or FRM number but marks it optional.
What it pays
The ad says the work is paid hourly, fully remote and fully async, and that you choose when and how much you work. It does not publish payment terms or minimum hours; see the AfterQuery page for the weekly Stripe cycle.
If you have the deeper background, compare it with AfterQuery's separate Quantitative Research Expert role, which asks for 3 years full time, a master's or PhD, a 10-hour weekly minimum and pays $115/hour on the board.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Top-of-market hourly pay for quantitative expertise, per the ad
- Degree or equivalent experience accepted, with a 2 year bar rather than 3
- Fully self-scheduled
Less good:
- The ad does not say how many hours of work are available or how long projects last
- Ranking and labelling responses can be repetitive
- The ad does not describe the hiring process; AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and ID verification
