What you'll do

This is one of Mercor's "Application Users" listings: short, template-style ads that recruit people who already work in a specific piece of software every day. Here the software is EViews, the time-series and forecasting package that sits on the desks of macro economists, central bank staff and financial analysts.

The ad is thin on the work itself. It names the application, asks you to open it on your own Windows machine, and sets a hard screenshot-resolution requirement. It does not list tasks, deliverables or a client. Our reading, and it is only a reading: the combination of "real-world experience in specialized applications" and high-resolution screen captures points to recording or documenting real workflows inside EViews, the kind of material used to teach AI systems to operate desktop software. Confirm what the tasks are during screening before you commit time.

If you estimate ARIMA or VAR models, run unit-root tests or build forecast workfiles in EViews as part of your job, you are the profile. Someone who opened it once in a graduate course is probably not.

Who fits

  • EViews installed and working on your own Windows PC, today. Mercor supplies no licence, virtual machine or hardware
  • Hands-on, working familiarity with the program, typical of economists, econometricians, macro and financial analysts, and policy researchers
  • A screen setup that captures more than 2.5 megapixels (see below)

No degree, years of experience or location requirement is stated.

The screen requirement

Screenshots must exceed 2.5 megapixels. Either a single high-resolution monitor (for example 2560×1440 at 16:9, 2560×1600 at 16:10, or a 3440×1440 ultrawide; MacBook Pro 14" and 16" built-in displays also qualify) or two monitors of at least 1920×1080 side by side, captured as one image. A single 1080p screen does not qualify, which rules out a lot of standard office laptops.

What it pays

$45–55 per hour, Mercor's published figure. That is the rate Mercor uses across its STEM-tier application listings (MATLAB, Stata, Vivado and others carry the same band), below the $55–65 developer-tool listings and the $60–70 operating-system and Office listings.

Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise, based on services rendered.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • A rare listing that pays for fluency in a niche econometrics package rather than general credentials
  • Fully remote and on your own schedule
  • Weekly payment terms are published upfront
  • Active: Mercor showed 9 hires on this listing in the current month when we checked

Less good:

  • You must already own an EViews licence; Mercor will not provide one, and EViews is not cheap
  • The work itself, weekly hours and project length are not described
  • Projects can be extended, shortened or concluded early depending on need and performance
  • H-1B and STEM OPT candidates are excluded
  • Independent contractor: no benefits, and tax is yours to handle
