What you'll do

This listing is about the Mac desktop itself rather than any one app: Finder, System Settings, window and Space management, and the bundled Apple applications, all on macOS Sonoma 14.5. Mercor wants Mac power users, Apple-platform administrators, and creative or technical professionals who work in that environment every day.

The ad lists no tasks. It requires that Sonoma 14.5 is already your day-to-day operating system on your own Mac, and that your screen produces high-resolution screenshots. Desktop-OS listings in Mercor's "Application Users" family are most plausibly about capturing real computer use to train and evaluate AI agents that operate an operating system end to end, but the ad does not state this; confirm at screening.

Sonoma is macOS 14; the current releases have moved on, and many Macs update automatically. If your machine is on Sequoia or later, you are unlikely to match, and downgrading a Mac is not trivial. Check "About This Mac" before you apply.

Who fits

  • macOS Sonoma 14.5 as your own primary desktop OS, ready to use today; no hardware or VMs are supplied
  • Fluent, everyday command of the macOS desktop and built-in apps
  • A capture setup above 2.5 megapixels. The ad names the MacBook Pro 14" (3024×1964) and 16" (3456×2234) built-in displays as qualifying; otherwise a single high-resolution external monitor or two 1080p-plus monitors spanned together

No degree, years or country requirement is published.

What it pays

$60–70 per hour, the top band in the application-user family, level with the Windows 11 Professional and Ubuntu 24.04 listings. Mac users who also run Excel or Word on macOS can compare the Office listings, which pay the same.

Weekly payment on Stripe or Wise, based on services rendered.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Highest pay tier with no extra software to buy
  • Many MacBook Pro owners already meet the screen requirement without an external monitor
  • 4 hires shown this month when we checked
  • Remote and self-scheduled, weekly pay published

Less good:

  • Pinned to one older point release, which excludes anyone who has kept their Mac current
  • The ad does not say what you will do, for how many hours, or for how long; projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
  • H-1B and STEM OPT candidates excluded; independent contractor terms

About this listing

A Mercor remote hourly contract, read on 24 September 2026. The rate, OS version, screen requirement, payment terms and visa limitation come from the ad. Mercor states no confidential or proprietary information from any employer or client is involved, so use a personal account rather than a managed work profile. See Mercor.
