What you'll do

VMware Fusion runs virtual machines on a Mac: Windows or Linux guests for testing, development or administration. This Mercor listing looks for the people who do that routinely: Mac-based IT administrators, sysadmins, DevOps engineers and cross-platform developers.

The ad sets requirements, not tasks. You need Fusion installed on your own Mac running macOS, openable today, and a display that captures high-resolution screenshots. The work, the client and the hours are not described. The pattern suggests recording real use of the application (creating and configuring VMs, snapshots, networking and shared folders, guest installs) to train AI agents that operate desktop software. That is our inference, not the ad's text.

The ad says Mercor does not provide virtual machines. For a virtualisation listing, that means your own guest images and any guest OS licences are on you too.

Who fits

  • VMware Fusion installed on your own Mac, ready today; Mercor provides no licence, VM or hardware
  • Real-world experience running and managing VMs on macOS
  • Screenshots above 2.5 megapixels. The MacBook Pro 14" (3024×1964) and 16" (3456×2234) built-in displays qualify per the ad; otherwise one high-resolution external monitor or two 1080p-plus monitors spanned together

No degree, years or country requirement is stated.

What it pays

$55–65 per hour, the "Code" tier, same as the Android Studio (macOS) and Quartus II listings. It sits $5 below the top $60–70 band for operating-system and Office listings, so a Mac admin who also runs Sonoma 14.5 day to day may want to compare that listing.

Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise, based on services rendered.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Mid-to-high pay tier for a practical admin skill
  • VMware has offered Fusion free for personal use, so the licence may cost nothing
  • Remote and self-scheduled, weekly pay published

Less good:

  • Your Mac needs enough memory and storage to run guests comfortably
  • No hires were shown on the listing when we read it
  • Tasks, hours and duration are not described; projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
  • H-1B and STEM OPT candidates excluded; contractor terms

About this listing

A Mercor remote hourly contract, read on 24 September 2026. Pay, software, screen requirement, payment terms and visa limitation are from the ad. Mercor states no confidential or proprietary information from any employer or client is involved, so do not use VMs built from work images. See Mercor.
