What you'll do

The Windows entry in Mercor's operating-system trio covers the Windows 11 Pro desktop as a whole: Settings, File Explorer, window management and the built-in system tools. It is written for power users, IT administrators and desktop support professionals, the people who know where Windows hides things.

The ad lists requirements but does not describe the work. You must already use Windows 11 Professional as your own day-to-day desktop and be able to work in it today, with a display that captures high-resolution screenshots. What you would actually do, for whom and for how long is not stated. Given the format, the likeliest purpose is recording real OS-level computer use to train or evaluate AI agents that operate Windows; that is our inference.

Two easy ways to fall short: running Windows 11 Home (the ad names Professional; check under Settings, System, About), or working on a single 1080p laptop screen.

Who fits

  • Windows 11 Professional as your own primary desktop OS; no hardware, licences or VMs are supplied
  • Deep familiarity with the system settings, file management and admin tools, at the level of a power user or IT support professional
  • Screenshots above 2.5 megapixels from one high-resolution monitor (1440p or better at 16:9, 1600p at 16:10, 3:2 panels such as 2256×1504, ultrawides from 2560×1080) or two 1080p-plus monitors spanned into one image

No degree, years or country requirement is published.

What it pays

$60–70 per hour, level with the macOS Sonoma and Ubuntu 24.04 listings and the Office listings (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). That is the family's top band, $15 above the STEM tools and $30 above the Generalist creative listings.

Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise, based on services rendered.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Top-tier pay for the most common desktop OS in the world, with no extra software cost if you already run Pro
  • Marked as a new opportunity when we read it, so early applicants may face less competition
  • Remote and self-scheduled, weekly pay published

Less good:

  • The Windows user base is enormous, so expect screening to push hard on genuine expertise
  • No hires shown yet, so there is no signal of work volume
  • Tasks, hours and duration are not described; projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
  • H-1B and STEM OPT candidates excluded; contractor terms

About this listing

A Mercor remote hourly contract, read on 24 September 2026. Pay, edition, screen requirement, payment terms and visa limitation come from the ad. Mercor states no confidential or proprietary information from any employer or client is involved, so a domain-joined work PC is a poor choice for this. See Mercor.
