What you'll do

This is the advanced-practice and nursing side of Mercor's ATTR cardiac amyloidosis project. The client, an AI healthcare company that automates administrative and pharmacy workflows, is training a model to spot patients who likely have ATTR from their charts, and it wants clinicians who have actually followed these patients in clinic.

You review patient charts, sometimes incomplete, and judge how likely ATTR is. You pick out the signals that matter (history, and diagnostic findings such as PYP scans where they apply), write evidence-based reasoning that separates ATTR from look-alike conditions, and keep your labels consistent across batches. As the model learns, you revisit assessments against new evidence and its feedback, explain your calls to the technical team, and hit labelling deadlines.

For nurses and APPs in a heart failure clinic, much of this is familiar: you are often the person who notices the pattern across visits before a formal workup. The new part is writing it down as criteria rather than acting on it.

Who qualifies

  • NP, RN or PA with 5+ years of cardiology-focused experience, ideally in a cardiology practice or clinic
  • 1–3 years in a heart failure or ATTR-specific clinic
  • Hands-on experience evaluating or managing suspected or confirmed ATTR cardiomyopathy, including PYP scans as your scope allows
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to explain it with structured criteria
  • 10–20 hours a week alongside clinical practice
  • US-based

Preferred: experience at an amyloidosis centre of excellence or cardiomyopathy clinic, contributions to ATTR research or publications, or prior work with AI/ML teams, clinical decision-support or chart abstraction and labelling.

Like the cardiologist version, the application adds an ATTR screening questionnaire.

What it pays

$80–120 per hour, against $120–150 for the cardiologist listing on the same project. At 10–20 hours a week that is roughly $800 to $2,400 weekly before tax. For most cardiology nurses and APPs that is a strong hourly rate, well above Mercor's general RN annotation work.

The ad does not say how RN, NP and PA candidates are placed within the band. Payments are weekly on Stripe or Wise, and the terms describe an independent contractor engagement.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Rare chance for nurses and APPs to be paid as the clinical expert on an AI labelling project
  • High rate for a nursing-eligible role
  • 10–20 hours a week, designed to sit alongside practice
  • Fully remote, own schedule

Less good:

  • The experience bar is specific: five years in cardiology is not enough without heart failure or ATTR clinic time
  • No indication of how RN, NP and PA are paid relative to each other
  • US-based clinicians only; H-1B and STEM OPT holders excluded
  • No project length published, and projects can be extended, shortened or ended early
