What you'll do
The infrastructure edition of Mercor's PE Associate modelling project, and the only one of the three variants open on both sides of the Atlantic. Like the Real Estate (US) and Consumer & Leisure (France/Europe) versions, it is a single deal: you build a model of an assigned infrastructure transaction from a synthetic document pack, then peer-review two anonymised models built by other contractors on the same deal.
Deliverables:
- An editable Excel workbook with live formulas, source references and stated assumptions
- For each peer model, a short written rationale against fixed criteria and a completed review scorecard
The distinctive requirement is digital infrastructure exposure: data centres, fibre or towers. That hints at the kind of asset in the pack, so contracted-revenue profiles, long-dated capex and utilisation assumptions are likely to feature, though the ad does not describe the deal.
The listing does not say what the models are for. Independent builds of one synthetic deal scored against fixed criteria are a common way to produce expert evaluation data, but the ad does not confirm it.
Who qualifies
- 2–4 years total: about 2 years in investment banking (infrastructure, power and utilities, or real estate and TMT M&A) followed by 1–2 years in infrastructure private equity
- Currently or recently an Associate at an infrastructure-focused PE fund, or the infrastructure arm of a multi-strategy manager
- Exposure to digital infrastructure: data centres, fibre or towers
- Able to build a model from source documents, without a template
- Fluent English
- Location: United States or United Kingdom
TMT M&A bankers who moved into infra funds are explicitly in scope, which suits the digital-infrastructure angle.
What it pays
$80–100 per hour, paid weekly on Stripe or Wise, the same as the other two variants. At about 20–25 hours over 1.5–2 weeks, the project totals roughly $1,600–2,500.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Open to both US and UK residents
- Multi-strategy infra teams count, not only dedicated funds
- A short, clearly bounded project
Less good:
- The digital-infrastructure requirement narrows the pool considerably
- One deal only, with no promise of follow-on work
- H-1B and STEM OPT holders are excluded
- Contractor terms; the project can be extended, shortened or concluded early
