What you'll do
This is computer-use training data for an EDA tool. You are given workflow instructions and carry them out in Altium Designer while recording your screen: schematic capture, PCB layout, component placement, routing and design validation, the everyday sequence of a real board. The recording shows a model how an experienced designer actually moves through the software.
Each workflow then becomes a task. You write a realistic prompt that would lead someone to do that work and a detailed rubric for judging whether it was done right, document the steps and design decisions you took, and review outputs against the project guidelines. The rubric writing is where your judgment counts: knowing which DRC failures matter, what a sensible placement looks like, and what a lazy route would get wrong.
Who fits
- Strong hands-on Altium Designer experience, professional or on substantial projects
- Current access to Altium Designer and the ability to use it independently (you supply the licence)
- Prior human-data work such as annotation, labelling, RLHF, response or model evaluation
- Comfort recording and sharing your screen throughout
- The ability to explain a technical workflow step by step in writing
The human-data requirement is the one that will filter people out. Plenty of PCB designers know Altium well; fewer have written rubrics or evaluated model output before.
What it pays
$90–175/hour, micro1's published band, which is high for tool-workflow capture. No compensation structure, hours or duration is stated, and nothing says what moves you up the band.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Strong pay for work that is mostly doing your normal job on camera
- 40 openings, posted today and flagged high demand
- Prompt and rubric writing is a transferable human-data skill
- Remote, no country restriction named
Less good:
- You must already have Altium access; a commercial seat is expensive if your employer's licence cannot be used for outside work
- Prior human-data experience is expected, not just design skill
- Screen recording the whole time, so keep any employer or client designs off screen
- No pay structure, hours or project length on the listing
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
