What you'll do
This is micro1's widest legal brief. Rather than one practice area, the scope covers legal analysis across "a variety of US law topics", in-depth research, and drafting, reviewing and editing memoranda, opinions, contracts and other legal documents.
A good part of it is quality assurance: giving structured feedback on legal texts for clarity and accuracy, and spotting errors, inconsistencies or ambiguities. The ad lists rubric-based evaluation of legal documents as a plus, which is a strong hint about how the feedback is structured. Expect to score material against a checklist and justify each score.
You also collaborate remotely with a multidisciplinary team on harder legal scenarios.
Who qualifies
The one hard requirement is stated plainly: mandatory experience at one or more Vault Law 100 firms. Beyond that, the preferred profile is:
- An active licence to practise and strong academic credentials
- Current or prior experience at a top-tier US firm with exposure to varied practice areas
- Proven legal analysis, research and drafting across a range of subjects
- Strong written and verbal communication, with legal content review experience
- A track record of remote, multidisciplinary collaboration
- Rubric-based QA of legal documents (a plus)
No practice area, years of experience or jurisdiction is specified. A former Vault 100 associate who has since moved in-house or into another field appears to fit.
What it pays
$140–400/hour. The ceiling is high even by BigLaw billing standards; the $260 width is the problem. Nothing is published on how you are placed within the band, and no compensation structure is stated. Plan around the floor.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Any practice area qualifies, so generalists are welcome
- Former Vault 100 lawyers who have left the firm still fit ("current or prior")
- 100 openings, marked high demand
- A high ceiling on the band
Less good:
- Vault 100 is a pedigree filter that shuts out strong lawyers from regional or boutique firms
- A very wide band with no stated basis for placement
- No pay structure, hours, duration or customer is published
- QA and rubric work across many topics can be less engaging than a single specialist brief
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
About this listing
Read on micro1's jobs portal on 24 September 2026, where it showed as posted about a month earlier. micro1 runs a second posting with the identical text and band titled "BigLaw lawyers (Litigation/Corporate/M&A)"; we list only this one. Its practice-specific cousins at the same band include Litigation Associate Attorney (BigLaw Firms). See micro1.
