What you'll do
You supply the compliance judgement an AI system does not have. On one side you write: detailed explanations and rationales for complex compliance scenarios, and scenario-based questions and answers that reflect where compliance law is heading. On the other you review: annotating legal documents and compliance materials, and critiquing AI-generated legal output for accuracy, logic and fit with US compliance standards.
The ad puts weight on ambiguity. You are asked to spot the places where an AI answer is unclear or walks into a legal pitfall and to suggest how to fix it, and to feed back on the training process itself. You work remotely with project leads and technical specialists on nuanced regulatory questions.
Who fits
- A JD from an accredited US law school and an active licence in good standing
- 3 to 10+ years of recent, substantive compliance practice in the US
- Currently practising compliance law and based in the US
- Exceptional written and verbal communication
- Preferred extras: a judicial clerkship, teaching law or legal writing at an accredited school, and law journal editing (described as highly valued)
No prior AI experience is required.
What it pays
$100–180/hour, micro1's published band. micro1's earlier Compliance Attorney posting, now closed, paid $90–150/hour. Compared with it, this one is higher at both ends, makes US residence a location requirement rather than a preference, lists 50 openings rather than 48, and gives the experience range as 3 to 10+ years rather than 3 to 15. The duties are otherwise the same. No hours or project length are published.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Scenario writing is creative work that draws on real compliance experience
- $10 to $30 an hour more than the earlier posting
- 50 openings with a high-demand badge
- No AI background needed
Less good:
- "Currently practicing" is listed, which may screen out recently retired or career-break compliance lawyers
- US-based only
- The ad does not say which compliance areas (financial, healthcare, privacy, trade) the project focuses on
- No hours, project duration or screening process published
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
