What you'll do
Video and audio annotation for a client's labelling project. The guideline is detailed and the ad stresses following it exactly: you annotate samples, then review, validate and improve labels that already exist so the dataset ends up consistent.
The part that separates good annotators here is edge-case handling. You are expected to spot ambiguous data points, write them down and get them clarified with the project coordinators rather than guess. You also keep a record of what you completed, hit milestone deadlines, and give feedback on the annotation tools themselves.
Who fits
- Experience with data annotation, especially video and audio
- A methodical approach and strong attention to detail
- Good written and spoken English
- The ability to execute very specific instructions without drift
- Comfort working remotely with little supervision
- Analytical enough to make objective calls on nuanced data
Experience with labelling platforms is listed as a plus. No AI background is needed.
What it pays
$6–10/hour, micro1's published figure. That is low for this kind of detailed work, and the ad publishes nothing about what moves you from $6 toward $10. For most people in high-cost countries this is side income at best.
No pay structure, hours or project length are stated.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Entry-level with no degree or AI experience asked for
- A slightly higher ceiling than micro1's other $6–8 Data Annotator ad
- Independent, remote work with a clear guideline to follow
- 20 openings
Less good:
- Pay is very low for skilled annotation
- No criteria published for where in the band you land
- Repetitive media review can be draining
- No hours, duration or start date published
- Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage
About this listing
Posted by micro1 on its own jobs portal as "Data Annotator" and read on 24 September 2026; we added the pay band to the title to tell it apart from its sibling. Location is Remote with no country list. The sibling, Data Annotator, covers very similar audio and video work at $6–8/hour; this one pays up to $10 and puts more weight on edge-case documentation and independent work. See micro1.
