What you'll do
The project wants the judgment of someone who has spent years getting information out of people who may not want to give it. You either conduct or assess structured elicitation and interview sessions, and for each one you work out what the subject actually said, how reliable it was, and why.
That breaks into a few concrete jobs. You build rapport without pressure or coercion; you track tone, pacing, hesitation and body language and adjust questioning as you go; you judge internal consistency and possible evasion and give a confidence rating for each interaction; and you annotate the emotional and motivational drivers behind answers. Everything is scored against a detailed rubric and written up so a reviewer can follow the reasoning. The ad stresses that reads must be justified in writing, not asserted from instinct, and that consistency across many cases matters.
Who fits
- 3–5+ years in professional interviewing, intelligence elicitation or investigative questioning; the ad names military HUMINT, law-enforcement interviewing and skilled negotiation
- Training in a recognised method such as the PEACE model or cognitive interviewing
- Real-time reading of paralinguistic and nonverbal cues
- Exceptional written English, precise and defensible
- Experience with diverse populations or working through interpreters
- Familiarity with annotation, AI evaluation or after-action reporting helps
No AI experience is required.
What it pays
$25–65/hour, micro1's published band. For people with a HUMINT or investigative career behind them, the floor is modest, and the ad does not say what earns the top end or whether pay is hourly or per session. The role asks for at least about 15 hours a week.
Worth knowing
Good:
- A rare outlet for interviewing and elicitation expertise outside government or law enforcement
- The PEACE model is named, signalling an ethical, non-coercive frame
- Remote, with US-based candidates preferred rather than required
Less good:
- A low floor for a specialist skill set, and a wide band
- A weekly minimum of roughly 15 hours limits it as a side job
- Whether you interview live participants or assess recordings is not made clear
- Nothing on project length or pay mechanics
- Contractor engagement: no benefits
- The ad does not say what the resulting AI will be used for, which some former practitioners will want to ask about
