The title says IP. The requirements say tech transactions

Read the qualifications before deciding whether this is your listing. The role is named Intellectual Property Counsel, but nothing in the requirements mentions patents, trademarks, licensing or IP prosecution. What it asks for is three years of counsel experience on technology transactions, specifically negotiating MSAs, NDAs and DPAs. IP counsel who spend their days on tech licensing and commercial agreements will fit; a patent prosecutor with no contract practice may not. The skills on the card (playbooks, redlining, contract drafting and negotiation) point the same way.

What you'll do

You run simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises, review how an AI model handles the same scenarios, and write expert feedback on where it misjudged risk or misread the language. You also design objective evaluation frameworks and grading criteria so contract-task performance is scored consistently, and work with product and research teams on the data and guidelines behind an AI contract review product.

The card lists playbooks as a skill, which suggests the tasks involve negotiating against a set of company positions, the way an in-house team works from a fallback matrix. The ad does not spell that out, so treat it as a likely shape rather than a promise.

Who fits

  • A JD from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active bar admission in at least one US jurisdiction
  • At least three years of counsel experience on technology transactions, particularly MSAs, NDAs and DPAs
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, with close attention to detail
  • The ability to turn legal expertise into feedback an AI team can act on
  • Experience on cross-disciplinary teams in fast-paced settings

Preferred: prior exposure to AI, legal tech or training projects, and experience at a corporate law firm. The location is "Remote" with no country named; US bar admission is a credential here, not a residence rule.

What it pays

$100–200/hour. That is higher at both ends than micro1's contract-redlining listings on the $90–130 band, and this ad asks for more in return: an ABA JD and a US bar admission, which those listings do not. Unlike them, this ad publishes no compensation-structure section, so whether the rate is hourly or a per-task equivalent is not stated. Ask before you start.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • The top of the band is well above micro1's other redlining roles
  • 100 openings, flagged high demand
  • Part-time by design and fully remote
  • Rubric and framework design carries over to other evaluation work

Less good:

  • The IP title will draw applicants the requirements do not actually target
  • A US bar admission and ABA JD are hard gates for non-US lawyers
  • No pay mechanism, start date, weekly hours or project length stated
  • Nothing says how placement within a $100-wide band is decided
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
