We earn a commission if you sign up through the links on this page. It costs you nothing and does not affect which jobs we list. How this works.

Skills
  • kotlin
  • swift
  • react native
  • flutter
  • mobile development
  • debugging
  • performance optimization

What you'll do

You write mobile coding problems that frontier AI models should struggle with, then package each one so it can be run and graded automatically. The ad lists the kinds of problem it wants: subtle bugs, non-trivial features, application state and lifecycle handling, and performance work. You pick the repositories.

Each task has four parts: the problem statement, a reproducible environment, deterministic verifiers, and a reference solution. The verifiers are where mobile gets harder than backend. They must accept correct solutions written in different valid ways and reject incomplete or hard-coded ones, and doing that for lifecycle and state bugs (what happens on rotation, backgrounding, a slow network) takes more thought than asserting on a function's return value.

You work in one of three tracks:

  • Cross-platform: TypeScript or JavaScript with React Native, or Dart with Flutter
  • iOS: Swift with SwiftUI or UIKit
  • Android: Kotlin with Jetpack Compose or the View system

Who fits

  • Significant hands-on depth in at least one of those tracks
  • A solid grasp of mobile architecture, state management, asynchronous programming and app lifecycle
  • A record of debugging complex mobile apps and delivering real performance gains

The card lists Kotlin, Swift and mobile as required skills, but the body is clear that one track is enough. No degree or years-of-experience floor is stated, and no AI background is asked for.

What it pays

The band is $50–100/hour, but pay is output-based: per task that meets the project specification, with a weekly submission minimum that is communicated at onboarding rather than published. Your effective rate is set by how fast you can produce environments that pass review. Building a reproducible mobile environment carries more setup than a backend one (simulators, SDK versions, build tooling), so ask how environments are expected to run before you price your time.

Commitment

  • Roughly 15 hours a week, contractor
  • micro1 says it usually fills roles within 48 hours and expects first tasks within 24 to 48 hours of finishing onboarding

How it compares

This is the mobile counterpart of micro1's Senior Software Engineer (RL Environments, $50–100/hr) listing: the same band, the same environment-plus-golden-solution format, and the same 100 openings, with the language list swapped for mobile platforms and verifiers named explicitly.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • 100 openings, flagged high demand
  • Any one of three mobile tracks qualifies
  • Part-time hours that fit around a job
  • Substantive engineering rather than labelling

Less good:

  • Per-task pay: rejected tasks earn nothing and no per-task fee is published
  • The weekly minimum is only revealed at onboarding
  • Mobile environments are slower to make reproducible than backend ones
  • A fast start is expected once you are in
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, your own tax to manage

About this listing
