Skills

  • contract drafting
  • contract negotiation
  • technology transactions
  • playbooks

What you'll do

The core of this role is the redline. You run simulated contract negotiations and redlining exercises of the kind a technology-transactions associate handles every week, then review how an AI model handles the same contract scenarios and give feedback on how well it spots risk and reads the language.

The longer-lasting contribution is the grading framework: objective evaluation criteria that let AI performance on contract tasks be scored consistently rather than by feel. You also work with product and research teams on the data, guidelines and practices behind AI contract review. The ad describes the role as part-time.

Who fits

  • A J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active bar admission in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • At least three years focused on technology transactions, negotiating MSAs, NDAs and DPAs in particular
  • Precise writing and close attention to detail
  • The ability to turn legal judgment into feedback an AI team can use
  • Comfort working with cross-disciplinary teams at pace
  • Prior AI or legal tech exposure, or corporate law firm experience, is preferred

What it pays

$80–130/hour, micro1's published band. No compensation structure or weekly hours are stated beyond the part-time description.

Compare this with micro1's General Counsel listing, which covers near-identical redlining and rubric work at $90–130/hour on a task-based model (about 3.5 hours per task) and asks for in-house experience but no bar admission. This listing sets a lower floor but formally requires the J.D. and active U.S. licensure, and accepts technology-transactions experience from any setting. If you are licensed and your experience is law-firm rather than in-house, this is the better match.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • 100 openings and a high-demand flag
  • Firm experience is welcome, unlike the in-house-only sibling
  • Part-time by design
  • Framework and rubric design is substantive work

Less good:

  • Active U.S. bar admission is required, which rules out foreign-qualified lawyers and those who let their licence lapse
  • A $10 lower floor than the General Counsel listing for similar work
  • No hours, duration or pay mechanics published
  • Contractor engagement, no benefits

About this listing

Posted by micro1 on its referral jobs board and read on 24 September 2026. The pay band, 100 openings and qualifications are micro1's published text. The location is remote with no residence restriction stated; the U.S. requirement is for bar admission, not where you live. Payment schedule is not stated.
