What you'll do

Unlike most design listings in AI training, this one asks you to make things. You design graphics, layouts and interfaces against project objectives, and build and refine wireframes, prototypes and design systems in Figma, with close attention to typography for readability and brand consistency.

The second half is critique. You review and analyse design iterations, give precise feedback, and document your process and the reasoning behind each decision in writing and in conversation. That written reasoning is what makes the work useful for AI: a model can learn from a finished screen, but it learns much more from a designer explaining why the hierarchy, spacing or type choice is right. The ad also asks for real-world insight on usability and interaction patterns.

Deliverables are submitted to project milestones, remotely.

Who fits

  • 5+ years in graphic or UI/UX design, with a portfolio that shows impact
  • Expert Figma skills and fluency with current design tools
  • Deep understanding of typography, colour theory and layout for digital products
  • Clear written and spoken communication about design decisions
  • A habit of giving constructive feedback and iterating on hard problems
  • Self-direction in a remote, autonomous setup
  • Accessibility and inclusive design knowledge is a plus

You need to be based in the US.

What it pays

$30–80/hour, micro1's published band, with no compensation structure stated and no basis given for placement. For a five-year Figma designer, the floor is below typical US freelance rates, so the offer figure matters. Compare micro1's UX/UI Designer listing, which pays $50–90 but is video annotation of robotic arms rather than design.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Actual design production, not only annotation
  • Figma-centred, so the workflow will feel familiar
  • Accessibility knowledge is valued
  • Ten openings for a specialist role

Less good:

  • US-based only
  • A wide band with a $30 floor that undercuts experienced freelancers
  • Your designs become training material for tools that may compete with design work
  • No hours, project length or pay structure published
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
