What you'll do

The title says UX/UI, but the work is video annotation for robotics. You watch recorded sessions of robotic arms carrying out specific procedures and annotate them: marking the key actions, behaviours and outcomes in a video annotation tool, applying tags, and grading each session against the project's guidelines. Each annotated task gets a short written note on what you observed and why you graded it that way.

micro1 recruits designers because the job rewards the same trained eye for sequence, timing and detail that UX and visual work builds, and because the ad casts its net wide on purpose. Consistency across contributors is the quality bar, so there is ongoing collaboration with project trainers and other annotators, and a standing invitation to suggest improvements to the labelling guidelines.

Deliverables are organised and submitted within requested timeframes.

Who fits

The ad accepts a broad range of backgrounds:

  • UX/UI or web design
  • Video or music editing, photography, filmmaking or audiovisual production
  • Robotics, or mechanical or electronics engineering

Alongside that it asks for:

  • Proven video annotation or data labelling experience, ideally for AI or machine learning
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a record of precise work
  • Strong written communication for clear documentation
  • Familiarity with video annotation tools and content review workflows
  • Comfort working with remote teams
  • An interest in robotics or AI is a strong plus

Where it is open

The ad lists Northern America, Latin America, Europe, the UK and Oceania. Those are regions rather than a country list, so no country filter is set here; if you are outside them (Asia, Africa, the Middle East), assume you are not eligible.

What it pays

$50–90/hour, micro1's published band, with no compensation structure stated. That is high for annotation work. It matches micro1's existing Video Annotation Specialist listing, which carries the same band, the same required skills and the same robotic-arm footage, so treat the two as likely the same project recruited under two titles and apply to one.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • 3,000 openings, newly posted and flagged high demand
  • A strong rate for annotation
  • Many creative and technical backgrounds qualify
  • No AI experience needed
  • Wide regional eligibility

Less good:

  • The title is misleading; there is no design work
  • Annotation experience is asked for on top of the background, which narrows it for pure designers
  • Watching robotic arms repeat procedures is repetitive work
  • A $40 spread with no published basis for placement
  • No hours or project length published
  • Contractor engagement: no benefits, no notice period, your own tax to manage
