What you'll do
You watch footage of robotic arms carrying out assigned tasks and mark up what happens: identifying the key actions and outcomes, then tagging events in each session against a detailed set of grading guidelines. The labels you produce are what a robotics model learns from, so the value is in applying the same rules the same way every time rather than in working quickly.
Alongside the tagging you submit annotated datasets to the project's standards, raise ambiguities with project trainers so everyone resolves them consistently, and take part in ongoing quality reviews of your own work. It is remote contractor work paid by the hour.
What you need
- High attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing and tagging visual data
- Strong self-organisation: the ad calls this essential, since you work through sessions independently
- Clear written and verbal communication, for reporting progress and resolving edge cases with trainers
- Willingness to take feedback through repeated quality reviews
No prior AI experience is required; domain knowledge is what the listing asks for.
Nice to have
- Proven video annotation, data labelling, or similar data-centric annotation work
- Familiarity with video annotation tools and platforms
- A background in AI training, machine-learning data preparation, or robotics, marked strongly preferred
- An analytical, proactive approach to annotation problems rather than waiting to be told
What it pays
$50–90/hour, stated on the listing, paid by the hour.
The band is wide and no basis is published for where in it you land, so treat $50 as the number to plan around until you have an offer.
Worth knowing
Good:
- The rate is published before you apply, and it is strong for annotation work
- Prior annotation experience is preferred rather than required, so it is not closed to newcomers
- Robotics data is a growing specialism, and the experience transfers
- Clear written guidelines mean the standard you are judged against is knowable
- Fully remote, with no country restriction named on the listing
Less good:
- Watching robotic arms repeat tasks is genuinely repetitive work, whatever the rate
- A $40-wide range with no published basis for where you land
- Specific annotation experience is asked for on top of the general requirements
- No stated project duration or hours-per-week expectation
