What you'll do
This is video data collection with a specific look: the camera sits above and behind you, angled slightly down, far enough back that your whole body stays in frame along with your surroundings. Think of the third-person view in a video game. You record continuous clips of at least 60 seconds of ordinary activity: walking through changing environments, indoor and outdoor tasks, and driving or vehicle navigation (with the camera firmly mounted to the vehicle). The ad also mentions animal-mounted POV recordings among the capture types.
The footage should show movement, changing scenery and natural navigation. You follow the placement and safety instructions for each task, then name, organise and upload files to the project's spec, and keep the coordinators informed about progress or problems.
What you need
- A compatible camera with at least a 170° field of view and 720p resolution. Examples given: Insta360 X3, X4, X5 and X6, DJI Osmo 360, GoPro MAX and MAX2, or any other action or 360° camera that meets the minimums
- A third-person mounting rig, such as the Insta360 Third-Person Backpack Mount or a similar harness extension. Owning one is a plus and may let you start sooner
- For narrower-FOV cameras, a mount that sits far enough back to keep your full body in frame
Handheld selfie sticks, chest mounts, shoulder clips and stationary tripods do not qualify. No experience is asked for beyond careful recording and attention to detail.
What it pays
A flat $20/hour; micro1 lists it as $20 - $20. The ad does not say whether hours are counted as recording time or include setup, upload and file management, which makes a real difference to what you earn per clip. It also does not say whether equipment costs are reimbursed.
Worth knowing
Good:
- 100 openings and a high-demand flag
- No experience or degree requirement
- If you already own a 360° camera and backpack mount, the barrier to entry is low
- Remote, no country restriction stated
Less good:
- You likely need to buy gear if you do not have it, and the ad is silent on reimbursement
- Driving capture needs a secure vehicle mount and your own judgment on safety and local rules
- Recording yourself in public places may capture bystanders; check how the project handles consent and privacy
- No hours, volume or duration stated; contractor terms, no benefits
