What you'll do
Turing is recruiting Arabic speakers for group conversation recordings. In each session you and several other speakers talk about assigned topics for a set time, reacting to each other as in a normal discussion. The recordings are used for multi-speaker diarization, teaching models to separate and label speakers in overlapping, informal speech.
The ad does not say which dialect or register is wanted, or whether sessions mix dialects; ask or check the application form before assuming. What it does say is that you must speak actively, ask and answer questions, avoid scripts, and be present for the whole session at the assigned date, time and time zone.
Who fits
- Comfortable speaking Arabic in a group, contributing your share
- Able to join at the exact scheduled time
- Can follow topic guidance and talk naturally
- Has a quiet room and the right microphone
What it pays
The ad publishes no rate and describes a flexible agreement, not full-time or part-time employment. Turing sets rates per project; see Turing.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Conversation only, with no technical tools
- Fully remote; contract extension is possible based on performance and project needs
- Arabic is a language where quality speech data is in demand (general market observation)
Less good:
- No published pay
- Fixed session times, which may be awkward depending on your time zone
- Strict gear rules: wired headphones with an external microphone preferred, a good wired headset acceptable, laptop speakers and Bluetooth earphones banned; the same setup as your application audio sample
- Not employment
