What you'll do
You write biology problems that language models find difficult, then solve them properly so the reasoning can be used as a reference. Turing says the projects help fine-tune LLMs and aim at areas where models tend to struggle: conceptual abstraction, multi-step reasoning and data interpretation.
- Design and solve challenging biology problems
- Produce clear, rigorous step-by-step solutions
- Work with LLM researchers so the problem types match evaluation goals
- Help define new benchmarks across biology curricula, from early undergraduate to PhD level
Who fits
- Solid biology foundations, at the level of engineering entrance exams and graduate or PhD programmes
- Candidates pursuing or holding a Master's, PhD or postdoc in biology, biotechnology, biochemistry or a related field are encouraged to apply
- Good research and analytical skills, creative thinking and the ability to explain concepts simply (visuals and simulations are mentioned)
- Self-motivated remote work and a desktop or laptop with a good connection
No country is required. The ad is one of the longer-running Turing postings (first listed in May 2025).
What it pays
The ad does not publish a rate. Turing sets rates per project, so confirm the figure when you apply; see the company page for how this usually works.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Fully remote
- Real subject expertise matters, and the ad notes potential for contract extension based on performance and project needs
- Open to students still working on a Master's or PhD
Less good:
- No pay, weekly hours, duration or start date in the ad
- Contractor assignment with no medical or paid leave
- The ad does not describe an assessment; Turing's help centre mentions skill tests and sometimes a live interview
