What you'll do

This is engineering work turned into AI training material. You create realistic problems with their models and solutions, then review other engineers' submissions for correctness. The ad describes a "PAA-based project" and does not explain the acronym.

  • Develop CAD models and run simulation or analysis for aero, mechanical and electrical components
  • Validate designs with industry tools (the ad names CATIA, SolidWorks, ANSYS, MATLAB)
  • Write electrical engineering problem statements, simulation models, calculations, schematics and technical assets
  • Define inputs, assumptions, constraints, operating conditions, metrics and objective acceptance criteria
  • Check results analytically, optimize designs from simulation outcomes and document the method

Who fits

  • 10+ years in CAD engineering and simulation-focused organisations (stated minimum)
  • Strong aerospace, mechanical or electrical fundamentals and hands-on modelling and simulation
  • Tool proficiency by domain. Mechanical: FreeCAD, CalculiX, Gmsh, ParaView, Python. Aerospace: OpenRocket, OpenVSP, XFoil, AVL, OpenFOAM/SU2. Electrical: KiCad, ngspice, Qucs-S, Octave, FEMM, openEMS
  • Professional command of at least one tool such as MATLAB/Simulink, LTspice, ETAP, Ansys Maxwell, COMSOL or Altium; Python or MATLAB scripting preferred
  • For electrical: circuit analysis, power systems, machines, power electronics, control or similar, with depth in one specialisation

Preferred: a PhD in mechanical, electrical or aerospace fields and prior time at leading aerospace or engineering companies.

What it pays

The ad does not publish a rate. Given the 10-year bar, expect Turing to set it per project; see the company page.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Real engineering depth rather than generic rating
  • Uses open-source tooling that you may already know
  • Short 8-week assignment; start expected the following week

Less good:

  • The 10+ years requirement is firm
  • Minimum 20 hours a week (up to 40), with at least 4 hours of PST overlap
  • Contractor assignment with no medical or paid leave
  • The ad lists three disciplines and many tools; it is unclear whether you need all three
