What you'll do
You write and solve postgraduate-level chemistry problems, then explain the solutions in detail. The material is multimodal: text mixed with images, chemical equations, diagrams and visual representations. Turing's examples show the range:
- Explaining a complex organic reaction mechanism with text and annotated structures
- Solving a chemical equilibrium problem with reaction progress and energy diagrams
- Stoichiometry, thermodynamics, organic and electrochemistry problems at engineering entrance exam or engineering college level, explained in text and visuals
Who fits
- Chemistry foundations comparable to PhD programmes
- Candidates pursuing a PhD or postdoc in chemistry, chemical engineering, biochemistry or a related field are encouraged to apply
- Good research and analytical skills, creative thinking and the ability to give constructive feedback and detailed annotations
- Clear structured communication, independence in a remote setting and a desktop or laptop with a good connection
No country is required. This ad was first posted in May 2025 and is still open.
What it pays
The ad does not publish a rate. Turing sets rates per project; see the company page.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Visual, varied chemistry content rather than text-only tasks
- Fully remote, with potential for contract extension depending on performance and project needs
- Doctoral students are explicitly welcome
Less good:
- No rate, hours, duration or start date given
- Contractor assignment with no medical or paid leave
- The ad does not describe the assessment; Turing's help centre mentions skill tests and sometimes a live interview
- Content is pitched at entrance-exam and college level in places, which may be below what a PhD finds stimulating
