What you'll do

You act as the fact-checker for a language model's knowledge of screen entertainment. The day-to-day is writing prompts of varying difficulty, comparing several AI answers and ranking them, and explaining with authoritative references why an answer is right or wrong. You also flag ambiguous questions and suggest better ones.

Beyond single answers, the ad expects you to hunt for hallucinations, inconsistencies, outdated information and edge cases, to build benchmark datasets and adversarial test cases, and to work with AI researchers. Subject range covers film, television, streaming, actors, directors, genres, awards, franchises and entertainment history.

Who qualifies

  • Master's degree or higher in any field; Film, Television, Media Studies, Journalism, Communications, Literature or Screen Studies preferred
  • Strong knowledge of films, series, creators, franchises, awards and streaming platforms
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in entertainment journalism, criticism, media, content creation or research
  • Excellent written English, research and analytical skills, and sharp attention to detail

Preferred: experience with LLMs, generative AI, prompt engineering or AI evaluation; published work or teaching; the ability to work independently.

What it pays

The ad does not publish a rate. Turing sets rates per project, see Turing.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Real subject-matter work for people who already write or research about entertainment
  • Any master's degree field is accepted, as long as your knowledge and experience are there
  • Fully a contractor assignment with a defined end

Less good:

  • 40 hours a week with at least 4 hours of overlap with Pacific time, so it is effectively a full-time commitment
  • Only 8 weeks of work
  • Contractor assignment with no medical or paid leave
  • Restricted to the US, excluding California, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Vermont
  • You must pass an assessment first
