What you'll do
You write hard biology questions that test whether an AI can interpret evidence, not recall facts. Tasks are for LifeSciBench, and they are built on realistic research scenarios: experimental results, datasets, figures, sequences, structures and literature-style evidence. The ad lists:
- Designing novel graduate-level problems grounded in research contexts
- Writing clear questions with rigorous, defensible reference answers
- Interpreting experiments, data, figures, sequences and structures
- Validating claims, calculations, assumptions and conclusions
- Spotting ambiguity, alternative readings and under-constrained questions
- Making tasks self-contained, reproducible and documented, and acting on reviewer feedback
Who fits
- A Ph.D., postdoctoral experience or equivalent advanced research experience in the life sciences
- Strong expertise in at least one biological discipline
- Proven ability to interpret experiments and data
- Precise scientific writing
The ad names molecular biology, genetics and genomics, cell biology, biochemistry, neuroscience, microbiology, immunology, evolutionary biology, ecology, structural biology, biophysics, developmental biology, cancer biology and pharmacology among relevant backgrounds. Preferred: experience writing graduate problems, reviewing manuscripts, or evaluating AI scientific answers.
What it pays
The ad says "competitive compensation" and publishes no rate. Turing sets rates per project; see Turing.
Worth knowing
Good:
- Genuinely non-coding; the ad says the role involves no programming
- A steady scientific-writing task for PhDs
Less good:
- Heavy time ask: at least 8 hours a day and 40 hours a week, with 4 hours of overlap with PST, for 1 month
- Contractor assignment with no medical or paid leave
- The ad also says flexible hours, which sits oddly beside the 40 hour minimum
- Coding or workflow-based life sciences work is separate (the ad names GeneBench Pro, Agentic Life Sciences and Terminal Bench Science)
The process is a job interest form, then an assessment, then pre-onboarding contact based on your scores.
