AI training jobs for teachers: what the work is and what it pays

Overview · Today

Teaching experience is the main qualification for a small group of AI training jobs: classroom admin tests, rubric marking, assessment design, recorded tutoring and instructional design. From the listings on this site: what each asks for, what it pays and which are open outside the US.

Where teaching experience counts

AI training jobs for teachers use the parts of the job that are hard to fake: marking against a rubric, designing an assessment, running a lesson. On 12 October 2026, 15 of the 761 listings on this site were tagged education or writing. This guide covers seven listings, from those tags and others, that ask for classroom, tutoring or training experience in particular. The editing and journalism roles are in our writing and education guide.

The work, by teaching skill

The first group is classroom admin. micro1's English Teacher listing tests AI assistants on the paperwork of teaching. You give an assistant jobs such as emailing a parent about a missed essay or scheduling conferences, then check what it did. The listing wants a humanities degree, English or literature teaching experience, daily Google Classroom use and your own iPhone. The Google Classroom Specialist records your screen while you set up a class, post assignments and return graded work, so an AI agent can learn to do the same. If you record a real school account that shows student names, check your district's privacy rules first.

Marking and assessment design pay best. micro1's Educator/Assessor Writer has you score several AI answers to one prompt against a rubric and write the rationale. It prefers a degree from the US, Canada, the UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand plus marking experience, and needs no AI background. Sociology Teachers, Postsecondary designs assessment tasks and matching rubrics grounded in Bloom's taxonomy, and expects a PhD or ABD.

Tutoring and training make up the rest. Mercor's Spanish Tutors listing records one-to-one lessons with native English speakers over about three weeks, and needs a degree and three years of tutoring. micro1's Training & Development Specialist wants instructional design experience and states no degree or minimum years. Mercor's AI Rater Guidelines Writer suits instructional designers who have already written rubrics for human raters on generative AI work, and wants at least 35 weekday hours.

The median midpoint of the seven is $62.50 an hour. What to put forward

Rubric experience is the skill these listings ask for most often, so give examples of marking schemes you wrote or exams you moderated. Name the platforms you teach on, since two listings depend on Google Classroom. Five of the seven are open outside the US. For interview preparation, our guide to micro1's classroom teacher interview covers its questions on classroom management, differentiation and parents, and the writing and education filter shows new listings as they appear.
