What you'll do

The client, which Turing does not name, is building a next-generation dialog agent for uses such as education, entertainment and general question answering. Your job as a Go specialist is to check what the AI produces. You review code and solutions generated by the system against quality standards and best practices, validate its accuracy, efficiency and dependability, and use your Go expertise to resolve difficult issues that come up during validation.

The ad blends in some lead-style duties: organizing the development cycle, managing priorities, setting goals and deadlines, giving constructive feedback on teammates' code and working with cross-functional teams on strengthening the system. It also describes proactively finding and improving public GitHub repositories (new features, reworking existing code on large projects of 50K+ lines) and training LLMs with high-quality, scalable back-end components.

Who qualifies

  • A bachelor's or master's in engineering or computer science, or equivalent experience
  • At least 3 years as a software engineer
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, ideally overseeing engineers
  • In-depth Go and software development best practices
  • Desirable: experience with AI systems and code-generation tools, and prior GitHub use
  • Strong problem-solving and critical thinking
  • Excellent written and spoken English

What it pays

The ad does not publish a rate. Turing sets rates per project; see Turing.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Narrow-language specialist role, which can mean less competition than general coding evaluation
  • Duration and committed hours are described as flexible
  • The interview process is spelled out: a 60-minute technical interview and a 15 to 30 minute cultural and offer-conditions discussion

Less good:

  • The ad mixes review, management and open-source contribution duties, so the real day-to-day is unclear
  • No pay, no fixed hours and no contract length, which makes planning hard
  • Contractor position only
  • Written loosely (the ad has typos and overlapping duties), so ask for specifics before committing
