What you'll do

For mathematicians the challenge is turning a clean idea into a problem a model can attempt and a test can judge. You write a main problem with at least three sub-problems that lead into it, implement a verified Python golden solution with complete unit tests, and design cases that discriminate between correct and wrong outputs.

Tasks go through Turing's Central Task Platform (Tier 1 structure, Tier 2 rubrics) and are revised until they meet Pass@K across GPT, Gemini and Nemotron judges. Sync calls during overlap hours cover reviews, feedback and standups.

Who qualifies

  • Master's or PhD in Mathematics
  • Strong Python and scientific computing
  • Ability to pose well-defined problems with clear constraints and expected outputs
  • Rigour on determinism, correctness and test discriminativeness
  • Prior AI data annotation, research or scientific writing
  • Familiarity with LLM evaluation frameworks or coding benchmarks; NumPy, SciPy, SymPy
  • Published research or academic project work in a STEM domain

What it pays

The ad does not publish a rate. Turing sets rates per project, see Turing.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • SymPy and symbolic work sit naturally with a mathematics background
  • Defined 8-week scope and explicit rubrics

Less good:

  • 40 hours a week, 4 hours of Pacific-time overlap
  • Contractor assignment, no medical or paid leave
  • Open only to Bangladesh, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Ghana, India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, Turkey and Vietnam
  • Pure mathematics without coding practice will not be enough
