What you'll do

This is a writing job with a data core. Turing wants someone who can look at a public dataset, work out what it says for a business, and put the reasoning down so a researcher can follow and reproduce it.

  • Produce clear, structured technical documentation and written deliverables
  • Analyse public datasets to answer analytical questions and draw business insights
  • Explain logic in notebooks or another suitable format
  • Work with JSON data and keep outputs accurate and well organised
  • Use Python scripting as needed for exploration, validation and reproducible analysis
  • Keep methods, assumptions and findings documented and traceable
  • Refine insights with researchers and stakeholders

The ad does not say how the writing is used in model training; it frames the work as analysis and documentation for researchers.

Who fits

  • 3 or more years as a technical content writer, analyst or software developer
  • Strong technical writing and comfort with JSON and datasets
  • Working Python for exploration and validation (the ad says this is not a core engineering role)
  • Familiarity with notebooks or scripting workflows
  • Good sense of code quality, formatting and documentation practice
  • Business sense and analytical ability, and excellent spoken and written English
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or computer science, or equivalent experience

What it pays

The ad does not publish a rate. Turing sets rates per project; see Turing.

Commitment and location

  • At least 4 hours a day and 20 hours a week, with 4 hours of overlap with PST
  • Contractor assignment (no medical or paid leave)
  • Duration: 3 months, adjustable based on engagement
  • Locations named: India, Pakistan, Nigeria, Kenya, Egypt, Ghana, Bangladesh, Turkey, Brazil, Mexico

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Python needs are light, so it suits writers and analysts more than engineers
  • Equivalent experience can replace the degree
  • Remote

Less good:

  • No rate published
  • The assessment is a live coding challenge, which is unusual for a writing role
  • Pacific time overlap and country limits
  • Fixed term, no benefits or paid leave

How hiring works

A 60 minute technical interview with a live coding challenge (the ad spells it "challege").
