What you'll do
AfterQuery wants auditors to build the test material that AI models are measured on. You write audit questions and case studies covering planning, risk assessment, internal controls testing, substantive procedures, evidence evaluation, documentation and fraud detection, then evaluate model answers and give detailed feedback on accuracy and adherence to auditing standards.
You also work with a team of audit and technical experts to tune how hard each question is, so the set is challenging without being unanswerable. In practice this is closer to writing exam cases than to reviewing files: the skill is building a scenario with a defensible answer.
Who fits
- A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field
- Proven experience as an auditor or in audit operations, with a solid grasp of GAAS and internal control frameworks
- Strong analytical, written and verbal communication, with attention to detail
Preferred: several years across audit types (financial statement, internal, compliance, operational), prior work in audit training or standards development, a CPA, CIA or master's in accounting, and some familiarity with AI-driven audit tools. The form asks for your CPA status, optionally.
What it pays
The board shows $113/hr. The ad states no range, so that is the figure we record. It does not publish payment terms or minimum hours.
Worth knowing
Good:
- High hourly rate for work that draws on audit judgment you already have
- Remote and asynchronous, so you set your own schedule
- Open to experienced auditors from internal and operational audit, not only external practice
Less good:
- Question-writing is a different skill from auditing; strong practitioners can still find it slow at first
- No stated weekly hours, so steady volume is not guaranteed by the ad
- Payment terms are not published on this listing
