Skills
  • biomedical engineering
  • medical devices
  • design controls
  • verification and validation
  • regulatory submissions

What you'll do

The work centres on medical device and biomedical engineering content that AI models are being trained and tested on. Per the ad, you evaluate AI-generated device design and biomedical analysis for technical accuracy, create expert demonstrations of design controls, verification and validation workflows, and rank and label model responses against biomedical engineering standards.

The ad lists device design, biomechanics, biomaterials, imaging and regulatory submission content as the kinds of material you will see, and says the demonstrations are drawn from your own practice. In other words the skill being bought is how a working engineer actually moves a device through design controls, not textbook recall.

Who fits

  • A degree in biomedical engineering or a closely related engineering field
  • At least 2 years of professional biomedical engineering or medical device experience
  • Strong written communication skills

Preferred: an MS or PhD in biomedical engineering, experience with FDA 510(k), PMA, ISO 13485 or IEC 60601 work, and depth in one area such as biomechanics, biomaterials, imaging or instrumentation. The application form optionally asks for a PE license or a professional certification number such as CQE or RAC, if you hold one.

What it pays

The board shows $108/hour. The ad says the work is paid hourly, fully remote and fully async, and that you choose when and how much you work. It does not publish a range, a weekly minimum or its payment terms; the company page describes how AfterQuery pays contractors in general.

Worth knowing

Good:

  • Hourly pay with no fixed schedule
  • Fully remote and async
  • Regulatory experience (510(k), PMA, ISO 13485) is explicitly valued as a plus

Less good:

  • No pay range, minimum hours or payment terms are published on this listing
  • The ad does not describe its hiring steps; AfterQuery's help centre describes an unpaid, one-attempt assessment and ID verification, covered on the company page
  • The ad does not say how much work is available in each specialty

About this listing

Posted on the AfterQuery Experts board on 28 August 2026 and read on 18 October 2026. The duties, qualifications and the hourly, remote and async terms are the ad's own text. Engagement is as an independent contractor. See AfterQuery.
